OVERVIEW
Scooter Media is looking for a Communication Specialist to join our energetic and fun-loving public relations team. This role is ideal for a communications professional who thrives on pitching stories, building media relationships, and creating compelling content that helps clients achieve meaningful visibility.
As a Communication Specialist, you will support client accounts through hands-on media relations, strategic content development, and day-to-day execution of public relations initiatives. You’ll work closely with account leads and teammates to bring client stories to life while sharpening your skills in a fast-paced agency environment.
SKILLS
A Communication Specialist should have a solid foundation in public relations principles and media relations best practices and be comfortable managing multiple priorities across a variety of clients and industries.
The ideal candidate is:
- A strong writer with the ability to develop clear, accurate, and strategic content
- Experienced in working with local and regional media outlets
- A critical and strategic thinker who can help set and achieve long-term client goals
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple deadlines
- Comfortable collaborating with internal teams and supporting client needs
- Well-versed in client service and professional communication
- Experienced in public relations processes, tools, trends, and evaluation methods
- Equipped with two to four years of experience working directly with media
RESPONSIBILITIES
Media Relations & Client Support
- Work with local and regional media on behalf of clients across a variety of industries
- Develop and execute media relations strategies and tactics in collaboration with account leads
- Write and distribute pitches, news releases, backgrounders, blog content, and media reports
- Coordinate media interviews and assist with interview preparation as needed
Content Development & Writing
- Draft error-free, written content aligned with client brand voice
- Contribute to client-facing materials, including reports, briefs, and written updates
- Ensure all content meets Scooter Media quality standards and deadlines
Digital & Social Media Support
- Regularly suggest creative ideas related to social and digital media
- Assist with content development and execution on social or digital accounts as needed
Agency & Team Support
- Support account teams with additional tasks and projects as assigned
- Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent communication and execution
- Contribute positively to Scooter Media’s team culture and client-first approach
